Copy and Paste Coming to Your iPhone

With a little Javascript ingenuity, a new service called Pastebud aims to bring the long awaited copy-and-paste functionality to the iPhone and iPod touch.

Pastebud's copy and paste only work between Safari and Mail (or Safari tabs), but since that's where most of us are looking to do copying and pasting, it's not a bad start.

Pastebud is slated to launch this Friday.

AirTel and Vodafone have started selling the costly 3G iPhone in India. AirTel has even started advertising the iPhone 3G on national television. The ad, which is being aired from last two days shows how an iPhone 3G helps its users to manage Work Calendar, Work Emails and Work contacts. The commercial never highlights the multimedia capabilities of the iPhone 3G or not even the multi-touch interface, which is very surprising. From the commercial it is pretty much evident that AirTel is pitching the iPhone 3G for business users.

Vodafone cuts iPhone 3G price in India by $47(Rs 2000)

Vodafone has reduced the prices of the iPhone 3G by Rs. 2000 ($47) , the main reason being the poor response that it received during the first 2 days and the general dissapointment among the middle class people about the high prices.

The iPhone 3G was earlier available at Rs 31,000 ($720) for 8GB and Rs 36,100 ($840) for 16 GB.
After the reduction on prices the 8GB model would set you back by 29,000 ($673) and the 16 GB model by34000 ($793) .Vodafone will definitely get the advantage as Bharti Airtel continues to sell in the original price.

Whether it was Vodafone or Apple who cut the price is still not clear but do expect more price drops in the days to come.

Carriers say iPhone to blame for slowness

CNET has reported that according to T-Mobile in Netherlands the problems with the iPhone was hardware/software specific. Vodafone has also confirmed the the problems were because of the iPhone itself not the network.

Till date most people believe that the slowness is due to the carriers but now it seems otherwise.

Goldman Sachs released some stats last week about the first million 3G iPhones sold.

60% of those first million 3Gs, sold over just 3 days of the iPhone launch weekend, were purchased in the United States.
The top 5 selling countries (US, Japan, Germany, France, Spain & UK) accounted for over 85% (861,000) of the sales.
That means the remaining 139,000 iPhones were sold throughout the other 16 countries that participated in the release.
With its exclusive U.S. agreement, AT&T leads the carrier distribution breakdown.
2nd and 3rd place T-Mobile and Orange taking 89k and 77k respectively.

Jonathan Zdziarski, author of the book iPhone Forensics Manual, has recently discovered that the new iPhone OS (2.x) has a blacklisting method.
The kill switch would offer Apple a more targeted weapon to snuff out
offending apps than its existing capacity to revoke a developer’s
signing certificate, an action that could ultimately be used to shut
down every application being distributed by a developer. The more
accurate aim of the new system may leave the company less hesitant to
use it in rooting out apps it finds undesirable.

the iPhone calls home once in a while to find out what applications it should turn off. At present , but this has been added to disable applications that the user has already downloaded and paid for, if Apple so chooses to shut them down.
It appears to be tucked away in a configuration file deep inside CoreLocation
this is entirely different from Apple removing/delisting the application from the App Store.

New features:

+ Stereo over WiFi - Pandora stations now play in high bitrate
